After years of fulfilling work with NASA's STEM education programs, I am finding myself at a new crossroads. Due to massive cuts to NASA's budget, my position has been impacted, and as a result, I am re-entering the job market with a renewed sense of purpose and a deep commitment to public education. While this transition comes with its challenges, I am looking at it as an opportunity to return to my roots and contribute directly to the education and well-being of students.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in various educational leadership roles, from teaching in the classroom to leading program evaluation efforts and shaping communications strategies. My time with NASA's Office of Education allowed me to design, implement, and evaluate STEM initiatives that reached students and educators across the country, empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. However, with the current shifts in funding, I am excited to bring my skills back to public education, where I feel I can make the most meaningful and direct impact on the lives of students.

My passion for public education has always been rooted in the belief that every student deserves a high-quality, supportive learning environment—one that prepares them for the future, instills confidence, and helps them reach their full potential. As I re-enter the job market, my goal remains the same: to create opportunities for all students, particularly in underserved communities, and to help shape educational systems that are responsive, inclusive, and effective.

Having worked in education for many years, I’ve seen first-hand how crucial it is for school leaders to harness data, effective communication, and professional development to drive academic success. My experience with NASA’s educational programs, where I led data analysis efforts, facilitated educator training, and drove strategic communications, has equipped me with the tools needed to lead educational initiatives that foster student growth.

The budget cuts at NASA, while unexpected, have given me a clear direction to return to public education, where I can use my expertise in data-driven decision-making, communication strategies, and instructional leadership to directly serve students, educators, and communities. Whether it’s developing communication strategies to keep stakeholders engaged, using data to inform instructional practices, or working collaboratively with families and educators, I am committed to making a positive difference.

I am eager to bring my experience and skills back to public education and contribute to an environment where all students have the support and resources they need to succeed. I believe deeply in the power of education to change lives, and I am excited to help shape the future of education once again.www.linkedin.com/in/sarah-egan-reeves-216440
